When something goes wrong

General starting points, not automated response or a replacement for your organization’s incident plan.

Suspected cyber incident
  1. Use a trusted device to contact your IT or security lead through a known channel.
  2. Follow your incident-response plan. Coordinate isolation of affected systems with qualified responders; do not wipe evidence.
  3. Preserve relevant logs and timestamps. Do not upload passwords, customer records or evidence into public AI tools.
  4. Use the official CISA response checklist and involve legal counsel or your insurer where appropriate.

Website outage or suspected DDoS
  1. Check your hosting provider’s status and contact its incident support through your established channel.
  2. Ask the provider to assess edge traffic filtering, rate limits and whether the origin is being overwhelmed.
  3. Pause nonessential workloads only through your authorized incident process. Preserve logs rather than retaliating.
  4. Update customers with verified facts and follow your business continuity plan. This page does not monitor or protect your website.

Workplace emergency
  1. For immediate danger in the United States, call 911. Outside the U.S., use the local emergency number. Do not wait for AI guidance.
  2. Follow instructions from emergency responders and your workplace emergency plan.
  3. Move to safety as directed. Do not enter a dangerous area or attempt a rescue beyond your training.
  4. Once safe, follow your organization’s accountability and communication procedures.
